Colleen Cliff, PHR – President
This is Colleen’s fourth year on the Board. Colleen is currently a Human Resource Coach for Red and Associates, a human resources consulting company located in Spokane. Colleen earned her Masters Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology after completing her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Before joining Red and Associates she served as a HR Director in the healthcare industry. Her background also includes human resources experience in the retail industry. Colleen earned her Professional in Human Resources certification in December 2004. Outside of work, Colleen enjoys reading, biking, snow skiing, gardening and spending as much time as possible with her family and friends.
Melissa Faith, PHR – Past President
This is Melissa’s fifth year on the board and she is happy to be working in a support role as the Past-President. She was previously the Technology Chair as well as President Elect and President. Melissa graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in General Management with an emphasis in Human Resource Management. In 2002 she received her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification. Melissa currently works for STCU as the Human Resources Manager where she has worked for over ten years. In early 2010 Melissa and her husband will welcome their first child, a girl. They are very excited to begin this new chapter in their lives!
Debra McCormick, PHR - President Elect
This is Debra’s third year as a board member. She is currently the Human Resource Manager for DAA Northwest. Debra has been in Human Resources and Development for fifteen years primarily in the Financial Services Industry. Debra recently returned to the Spokane area after a 20-year absence. She has served as Chairperson for City of Federal Way Civil Service Commission, was a Board Member for Inroads of Puget Sound and was a City Parks & Recreation Commissioner. She earned her PHR certification in 1996.
Mike Lenker, PHR – Certification Chair
This is Mike’s first year serving on the INSHRM Board. He has been employed at the Community Colleges of Spokane for 8+ years as a Human Resources Specialist. Mike obtained his Masters in HR Management from Marymount University in 1995 and passed his PHR exam in 2002. He has worked in the public and private sector in generalist human resources capacities as well as non-human resources management positions. Outside of work, Mike is very active with his wife and two sons, coaches various sports, is on the executive board of the local elementary school PTSA, and enjoys going to Priest Lake for recreation and relaxation.
Juanita Jiminez – College Relations Chair
This is Juanita’s first year serving on the board. She is most looking forward to seeing how the groundwork Angela (College Relations Chair 08/09) laid for 2010 continues to grow for the INSHRM college relations and building on the foundation. Juanita hopes to continue to increase the awareness of Human Resources as a field of study and helping to provide resources to local students. She is a graduate from Eastern Washington University earning a BA, majoring in Human Resource Management and a minor in Communications. She has taken and passed the Profession in Human Resources (PHR) certification exam (in January 09) and will be eligible for her full PHR certification in January 10. Juanita works at Career Path Services as their HR Generalist. Career Path Services is a no-fee workforce development organization that makes a difference in the lives of our customers and their community. She is actively involved in the Diversity Recruitment Committee (DRC) and volunteers at World Relief Spokane to assist refugees with seeking employment. Outside of work and volunteering, Juanita enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her dog Toby. Together her fiancé and her enjoy traveling and dining out! She enjoys summer the most and any outdoor activities that go along with being outside in the sunshine. An ideal day for Juanita would be a day at the beach – any beach, as long as the sun is shining, friends and family are near, and the dog is curled up at her feet.
Valerie Fields, PHR – Communication Chair
This is Val’s first year serving on the Board. She has 16 years of experience in Human Resource Management, including key roles in company growth and expansion, restructuring and downsizing. She has worked in Spokane and North Idaho with manufacturers, staffing agencies, and high-tech government contractors. Val is currently employed with Associated Industries as Human Resources Manager internally and provides multiple HR roles for many of A.I’s 730+ members including HR leasing. She earned her certificate as a Professional in Human Resources in 1998, and has a BA degree in Psychology from Gonzaga University. Val was born and grew up in Oxford England.
In her spare time Val enjoys bargain hunting anything from shoes to real estate investments.
Molly Pepper – Diversity Co-Chair
This is Molly's third year on the Board. Molly is an assistant professor of management at Gonzaga University and the faculty advisor to the SHRM student chapter there. She teaches classes on the principles of management, organizational change and diversity in organizations. She received her Ph.D. in organizational behavior from Arizona State University in 2004 and her M.B.A. from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1997. Outside of work, she spends as much time as possible golfing, reading and traveling with her husband, Dean, and children, Naomi and Sam.
Yvonne C. Montoya Zamora, PHR - Diversity Co-Chair
This is Yvonne’s third year serving on the board as Diversity Co-chair. She has worked in human resources in higher education for the past 20 years and is currently a HR Generalist at Washington State University Spokane. Yvonne has an MPA and BA in Human Resources, both from Eastern Washington University (EWU). In 2009, Yvonne received her PHR and Certificate of Achievement from SHRM’s Diversity & Inclusion Strategic Leadership Program. Currently Yvonne is a member of several community-wide organizations: Unity in the Community, Diversity Recruitment Committee (DRC), Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research (SIETAR) Spokane, and the Hispanic Business and Professional Association (HBPA), in addition to WSU Spokane’s Diversity Committee.
Andrea Morgan, PHR - Foundation Chair
This is Andrea’s fourth year serving on the board. She previously served on the Board as a Membership Co-Chair for three years from 2006 through 2008. Andrea graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Resource Management and Business Management. She received her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification in 2003. Andrea is currently working at Lee & Hayes, PLLC as the Human Resource Manager and Client Development Specialist.
In her spare time Andrea enjoys traveling, playing golf, and spending time with her husband and friends.
Bev Pogue, PHR - Legislative Chair
This is Beverly’s second year on the Board. In 2009 she served as the Programs/Seminars Co-Chair position. Bev is currently a Staffing Coordinator with Worksource Spokane. She has been in the HR and Staffing Industry for over 15 years. Some of her titles have been Human Resource Director, Director of Sales and Marketing, Branch Manager, Executive Recruiter, Technical Recruiter, Sales and Marketing Specialist, and most recently the Regional Director for LF Staffing/Labor Finders of the Greater NW and Northern Idaho. Previous to her staffing experience she was corporate trained and owned a franchised distributorship for Tupperware Home Parties; the company was in Spokane and covered three states: Washington, Idaho and Montana.
She specializes in sales management, sales marketing, recruitment and placement, all HR duties, as well as sales motivation and sales training for both corporations and home based and direct sales business'.
KaLee Quanz, PHR – Membership Co-Chair
This is KaLee’s third year on the board. She is currently the Human Resources Director of NAC/Architecture. She has lived in the Spokane area for 12 years having moved from the Seattle area where she was born and raised. She has previously held HR positions at Numerica Credit Union and Inland Northwest Bank. She earned her PHR in 2002. She has also volunteered time with the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, the American Diabetes Association and Junior Achievement in Spokane Public Schools. KaLee enjoys spending her free time with her husband and son at home and her grandchildren in the Spokane Valley. She is an avid gardener.
Mark Kellogg – Programs/Seminars Co-Chair
2010 is Mark’s 1st year serving in the Programs/Seminars position and first year on the INSHRM board. He is currently the Environmental and Safety Coordinator at Garco Building Systems in Airway Heights, WA. In 2007, Mark graduated from Gonzaga University with a BA in Sociology and Philosophy. In addition to Environmental and Safety, his professional experience includes, Labor Relations, Risk Management and Worker’s Compensation Claims Management. He looks forward to the rewards and challenges presented by this board position. Outside of work, Mark enjoys cooking and spending time in the great outdoors… with friends and family close by!
Dee Kirklin, PHR – Membership Co-Chair
This is Dee's second year serving on the board. She is the Division Director of OfficeTeam, a division of Robert Half International in Spokane. Robert Half is the oldest and largest specialized staffing company in the world and the division she supports, OfficeTeam, specializes in placing highly skilled administrative and office professionals on both a permanent and temporary basis Dee is a University of Idaho Alumni where she earned her BS in Communications, majoring in Public Relations. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, husband – Joel and two cats – Daisy and Duke.
Mary Plummer - School-To-Work/Workforce Readiness Chair
Mary is serving as INSHRM’s School to Work/Workforce Readiness Committee Chair for 2010. Mary’s professional background includes working for staffing firms as an office manager and professional placement recruiter. She was also the Corporate Recruiter for Telect, Inc. Currently she is the Professional Development and Recruiting Coordinator for INTEGRUS Architecture--that is, she searches for talent and supports the professional development program for the firm’s offices in Spokane and Seattle.
Mary also enjoys networking, playing golf, gardening, skiing, traveling, keeping a regular fitness routine and most of all—spending time with loved ones and friends.
Liz Stokan, PHR – Secretary/Historian
This is Liz's first year serving on the INSHRM Board. She is currently interning to become a Vocational Rehab Counselor (VRC) with Disability Management & Consulting. Liz graduated from Central Michigan University in 2002 with a B.S.B.A. in Management and Legal Studies and obtained her M.B.A. with concentrations in Organizational Behavior and Marketing in 2004. She earned her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification in January 2009 and is in the process of obtaining her Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS) certification. Prior to starting her internship she served as HR Director with Spalding’s Inc. Her background also includes human resources experience in the retail industry and executive management. Outside of work, Liz enjoys spending time with her family, friends and Schnoodle puppy Louis.
Megan Shover, PHR – Technology Chair
2010 marks Megan's 4th year serving on the INSHRM board. She served as the Communications Chair for two years prior to taking on the Technology Chair role in 2009. Megan enjoys serving on the board not only for professional development but also to be more involved in the HR community and to connect others with the great resources that are available locally. She is currently a Recruiting Manager as well as the Office Administrator for Provisional Recruiting + Staffing. She joined Provisional's team in January of 2001 shortly after graduating from Washington State University. Outside of work, Megan has a husband and 3 high-energy kids, a sweetheart of a chocolate lab that loves to run and lots of friends and family that keep her on the go!
Shannon Pottratz, SPHR – Treasurer
This is Shannon’s second year serving on the INSHRM Board. She is currently the Finance & Operations Director of Webfront Stores, LLC. Shannon graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (HR management and general management majors), and obtained her Master of Science in Organizational Development (with an emphasis in HR) in 2005. She earned her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification in 2005, and her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) in 2007. Shannon’s background includes both public and private sector employment, as well as generalist and specialist HR responsibilities. Shannon is very excited to be serving on the Board again, although in a different capacity, in order to help INSHRM continue in its efforts to provide resources to the local HR community.
Outside of work, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends, hiking, biking, backpacking, exercising, reading, and traveling.
