  • How to apply
  • Please note, there has been a date change to the GPHR and California certification exams. Instead of May 1 – May 31, 2010, it is now May 1 – June 2, 2010.  May 31 happens to coincide with Memorial Day. The exam schedule on the HRCI website has been updated.

Helpful study materials:

INSHRM coordinates a local study group for those interested in taking the exam to achieve HR certification:

  • There are 2 sessions per year (spring and fall)
  • Participants are highly encouraged to have a SHRM Learning System as the study group is based around these modules. (You can purchase this system through INSHRM at a discounted price!)
  • Sessions are 9 weeks long
    • Informational meeting (provides you with information about the exam, various ways to prepare for the exam, what to expect, etc.
    • Module 1:  Strategic Management
    • Module 2:  Workforce Planning and Employment
    • Module 3:  Human Resource Development
    • Module 4:  Total Rewards
    • Module 5:  Employee and Labor Relations
    • Module 6:  Risk Management
    • Practice Exam
    • Final Exam
  • Each meeting is 2 hours long.  Participants come to the meeting prepared, having read and studied the material to be covered beforehand.  After class discussion and answering any questions you may have from studying, participants take an exam over the material.  We then provide the answers to all of the questions, as well as reasons why the other multiple choice answers were not correct!
