2009 Legal Update and an In-Depth Seminar - Social Networking in the Workplace

Time:  Check-In begins at 7:00 a.m., announcements/program begin at 7:30 a.m., the legal update runs from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and the seminar runs from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

2009 Washington and Idaho Legal Updates:  This is the 10th year that Kelly Allen will present legal updates for INSHRM!  Kelly will present on several general legal topics including updates for Washington and Idaho addressing significant employment law changes for 2009 including; disability definitions, discrimination, equal pay, retaliation, wrongful termination.  Kelly will also include an update and overview to the changes in the Family Medical Leave Act.

Seminar - Legal Updates Continued Including Social Networking in the Workplace:  Kelly will continue his legal update along with presenting information on social networking issues in the workplace.  These would include blog, Twitter, Facebook, My Space, etc.  He will cover how to or, whether to, regulate the use of social networking during the workday.  Kelly will also cover the legal issues when employers start using social networking sites as background check information.  He will present information on how employers can update their employee handbooks to manage social networking issues.
