Program Description:

This should be a timely discussion, as Milliman will share data and analysis from recently published surveys regarding employer plans for 2011.   We'll discuss compensation and benefits changes, in light of the current local labor market and economic conditions.   Such information will help keep your HR programs and cost structures in competitive alignment.

Speaker Bios: 

John Hankerson

Practice Leader, Strategic Rewards

John leads Milliman’s strategic rewards practice.  He works with organizations to develop and implement strategic pay programs that maximize the effectiveness of base pay design, incentive pay programs, total compensation strategy, performance management systems, and executive compensation plans.  His recent work has focused on building strong links between business strategy and pay program design across all employee groups.

John has over twenty years of experience in the design and implementation of executive and employee total compensation and incentive pay programs.  He has extensive experience in the design and administration of a wide variety of job measurement systems.  John’s consulting experience includes compensation philosophy and strategy development, short and long-term incentive design, and total compensation strategy.  His efforts in the area of total compensation have led to the development of a proprietary method of evaluating the value of an employer’s benefit plans in conjunction with their cash compensation programs.   He has in-depth experience in the telecommunications, utility, not-for-profit, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and high-technology industries.

Connie Russell

Connie Russell is a compensation consultant in the Seattle office of Milliman. She joined the firm in 1991.

Currently, Connie leads the annual efforts to plan, conduct, and publish two major surveys: the Northwest Retail/Wholesale/Distribution Salary Survey and the Spokane Area Compensation and Benefits Group Salary Survey. She assists in conducting other annual salary surveys for Northwest clients. She also assists individual clients in conducting custom salary surveys. She served as treasurer for the Seattle Chapter of the Northwest Human Resource Management Association.

Prior to joining Milliman, Connie worked as an intern in the human resources departments at UniSea, Inc. and Northwest Hospital. She served as president of the University of Washington’s Student Chapter for Pacific Northwest Personnel Management Association during her senior year.
