Monthly INSHRM Luncheon

Emotional Stability in the Work Place

Presenter: John Sporleder

Approved for 1.0 Recertification Credit

Date: Tuesday, November 10

Time: Check-In begins at 11:00 a.m., announcements/program begin at 11:30 a.m.

Location: Red Lion River Inn, 700 N. Division, Spokane

Program Overview: “The complexity and challenges of our times call for leaders to develop all of their capabilities. Many of the issues that organizations face are related to their ability to effectively manage their people. Solid leadership is a cornerstone for organizations to reach financial and business goals. If the leadership team is not effective and not aligned, it will significantly impede a business' success.

Solid leadership includes how management expresses emotions in the workplace. A manager's emotional style and emotional self-management is critical to a company's culture. Maintaining emotional stability is about managing feelings so they are expressed appropriately and therefore enabling people to work together and towards common goals in a constructive and transparent environment. When the executive values feelings, so will the employees. Research confirms that emotions are contagious and employees will emulate what the boss is doing. So, if the manager is expressing emotions in a way that shows respect and a desire to create an environment of trust and high performance, employees will thrive in this environment. Come learn about how we can achieve greater business and career success when we have better control of our emotional responses.”
