President's Welcome

2016

Let’s start the New Year off right!  Thank you.  Thank you for being a member and choosing to affiliate with our INSHRM Chapter and letting us serve you.  Because of you, we are now a Mega Chapter (500 strong!).  Because of you, we are starting to build a volunteer program that will encourage engagement and help the board identify future leaders.  Because of you, we were able to certify 183 members as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.  The third highest in our state!

What great things can we expect in 2016?  We are working hard to make 2016 as successful as 2015.  Some initiatives the board is working on too help advance our profession:

  • Best Workplaces Initiative
    • INSHRM and Providence are teaming up with the Journal of Business to bring businesses the Best Place to Work in the Inland Northwest.  We hope to have a strong showing in this first year and your participation will be a major factor. http://www.bestplacestoworkinw.com
  • College Relations

    • INSHRM is sponsoring a group of Gonzaga students to participate in the 2016 SHRM Student Case Competition and Career Summit in Omaha Nebraska on April 1st and 2nd.
  • Partners for Work

    • Welcome Lacy, our new INSHRM employee through the Partners for Work program.  If you didn’t have a chance to meet Lacy at the February luncheon, I’d ask you to take a few minutes and say hello.  I encourage each of you to look at your organization’s openings and invite Lacy to apply.   You’ll be glad you did!!
  • Supervisor Training

    • Our programs team, Krystal Seigfried, Lindsay Wane, Laurie Whitcomb and Mike Church continue to provide insightful speakers and a varying range of topics.  This year’s supervisor training will focus on coaching.  Be sure to check out our website for details.  We encourage you as a Human Resource Professional to accompany your supervisors to this training to help your company stay on the same page.
  • Spring Seminar

    • Our Events Chair, Ashleigh Matthews is finishing up the final touches on our speakers for the INSHRM Spring Seminar scheduled for May 17th.  Registration will open up soon on our website.

On behalf of my fellow board members, and as this year’s board president, I thank our members for their continued support and encourage you to reach out to fellow professionals; invite them to affiliate with INSHRM and attend our monthly meetings.  You makes a difference.
