Certification

Now is the perfect time to become certified!

INSHRM offers study groups, free of charge, in preparation for the PHR/SPHR exams.  Study groups will begin in September for the December 1 – January 31 testing window.  This is your last chance to certify through HRCI and then convert (free of charge) to SHRM’s new competency-based certification model.

INSHRM currently has 2014 Learning Systems in stock at a great discount to our membership.  Regularly, the books cost $850 + shipping for non-SHRM members.  However, through INSHRM, the cost is $495 + shipping—not a bad discount!

Contact Janell Harding, INSHRM Certification Director, for more information at [email protected].

NHRMA Conference - Spokane 2014: Don't Miss Out!

There is still time to register for the NHRMA conference here in Spokane. If you are still considering whether to attend, here are five reasons to hit that 'register' button:

1. Educational Opportunities: No matter how experienced you are, everyone can learn something new. Working within our own industries can often be isolating and without exposure to a variety of points of view, we can miss out on new ideas and trends that can impact future results. Our conference has learning tracks to fit everyone's areas of interest and all levels of experience, and I guarantee you will walk away with some inspiring new ideas and thought-provoking insights.

2. Networking with Peers: Networking with peers is always one of the highlights for me when attending a conference. Although we come from unique backgrounds and varying levels of experience, we all share a common passions for the HR profession. Sharing best practices with your peers is a great way to bring back new and innovative ideas.

3. Encountering New Vendors: There are those that shy awaay from the trade show exhibit hall at conferences. The fear that you might have to talk to a salesperson is a common excuse. These suppliers of HR solutions may be, however, some of the best people for you to get to know if you want to learn more about the current business climate. Discovering innovative products and services for your business is necessary to stay competitive in today's past-paced world. Invest time with the sponsors at the event and turn them into allies and friends.

4. Positioning Yourself as an Expert: When attending and participating in an HR conference, you can develop a reputation as an expert to your peers. Those who are engaged over the long term are often asked to speak at events and to write articles for HR publications. Like it or not, others like to associate with the experts. Clients feel good about doing business whith those who are celebrated by their peers. If your strategy is to be the best-kept secret in your business community, you will be missing a valuable opportunity.

5. Having Fun: Who says HR can't have fun? Conferences should be rewarding AND fun! Our conference will add a layer of enjoyment to your experience. Whether you decide to sip wine and savor new tastes, paint your first masterpiece, discover the 'haunted' side of Spokane, or spend an evening at the Improv, you are sure to have a wonderful and memorable time.

Prices increase on August 29th, so be sure to REGISTER NOW!
